Reading Room

Located in Room 3051 of the Child & Family Research Institute, the David Hardwick Reading Room maintains subscriptions to approximately 80 scientific journals and has a collection of more than 100 monographs and other reference materials. All materials must stay within the room; a photocopier is available. The Reading Room also contains six study carrels, three with netoworked computers and access to updated software including SPSS.

The Reading Room also offers a document delivery service. With this service, documents requested from the UBC Library are delivered to the Hamber Library at Children's Hospital. Twice a week, the Library Technician collects any requested documents from the Hamber Library, for pick-up at the Reading Room.

To take advantage of the document delivery service:

  1. Find the desired document in the UBC Library Catalogue
  2. Fill in the Document Delivery Form. Note: when completing the form, mark "Hamber" as the Pick-up Location BUT in the Last Name field also type in "CFRI Pickup." The more obvious this is the more likely the requested document will end up in the right location.
  3. When the item is retrieved from the Hamber Library, the Reading Room Tech will contact the requestee by email or phone (included on Document Delivery Form)
Contact: For further information about the Reading Room's resources and services, contact the librarian at readingroom@cfri.ca or go to http://readingroom.cfri.ca/.
